Karen Tripp recently served as the keynote speaker for our women’s Advent candlelight celebration, “Prepare for Jesus.” Her Christ-centered, heartfelt message on “Receiving the Gift” was an inspiration to all. Through personal reflection, biblical insight, and humorous anecdotes, Karen helped prepare our hearts to focus on the true meaning of the Advent season, the birth of our Savior. Many of the women attending shared that her message enriched their celebration of Christmas.

They can only be answered by God. In this presentation, Tripp discusses four difficult questions which often come at times of loss.

• Why did You let them die?
• When will the ache go away?
Through sound scripture and genuine testimonials, Karen will guide you through your unanswered questions to discover the peace that surpasses all understanding and comes only through Christ.
How can God use suffering and healing in His plan? Through four scripture stories, you will see how to view illness from the perspective of the cross. Each story is of a man seeking Jesus for healing, sometimes for himself, sometimes for someone else. How was the illness in each story used for God’s purpose? Let this exploration of Jesus’ interactions with the sick give you new peace and understanding.
Each of the following topics are part of a Bible sudy called Becoming a Fisher of menbased on scriptures relating to the life of the Apostle Peter. They can be presented jointly for a full day seminar or weekend retreat.
BECOMING A FISHER OF MEN: Holding Back from Jesus: Being a Christian means submitting every area of your life to Christ. But let’s face it. Some areas of our life are easier to give than others. It’s tempting to submit to Christ only in areas of our lives where we lack control and to rely on our own authority in areas where we feel confident. Gently look at the areas you’re holding back and find ways to place them at the feet of Christ.
BECOMING A FISHER OF MEN: Stepping Out for Jesus: If you are seeking God’s will, he’s telling you to do things you’ve never done before and maybe never wanted to do. Or maybe you see a direction you yearn to charge off into but you’re unsure if it’s Jesus’ idea or yours. Discover the three rules for stepping out for Jesus and be filled with assurance that YOU CAN DO IT!
BECOMING A FISHER OF MEN: Listening to Jesus: I could use some work on talking less and listening more, but especially with Jesus. Sometimes I’m completely distracted, others I don’t like what I’m hearing and others I’m afraid to ask God what I need to know. Or maybe you’re not expecting to hear from Jesus. Regardless of where you’re at, you’ll gain a richer understanding of how you can be closer to God.
BECOMING A FISHER OF MEN: Letting Jesus Serve You Does this seem backwards to you? Do you feel you should be serving Jesus not vice versa? And yet what could be more wonderful that truly letting Jesus carry your burdens? God sends His spirit, His people and His love to you.
